BIRTH RATES
868. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to my question without
notice 754 asked on 18 June to the minister. In her answer, the minister
advised that the birth rates in WA are similar to other jurisdictions; however,
this did not answer my question. I will ask the question again.
(1) What action,
if any, has the department taken to determine the cause of the significant 12 per
cent decline in births in WA since early 2021?
(2) Has the department determined
what is the likely cause of the decline?
(3) How does the decline in birth
rates in WA compare with other jurisdictions?
Several members interjected.
