I refer to the Infill Sewerage Program, specifically in relation to the original locality of Madora Bay (Water Corporation Projects North Mandurah 8A and North Mandurah 9A) in Mandurah, and ask:
(a) can the Minister confirm that the original locality of Madora Bay in Mandurah is not currently on the Infill Sewerage Program;
(b) can the Minister confirm that the original locality of Madora Bay has never been listed on the Infill Sewerage Program; and
(i) if so, why not;
(c) can the Minister detail when this locality had scheme water connected;
(d) can the Minister confirm that one reason scheme water was connected to the original locality of Madora Bay was due to contamination of ground water in the area;
(e) if contamination was one factor resulting in the connection of scheme water to this locality why was this area not added to the Infill Sewerage Program as a priority;
(f) if contamination was one factor will the Minister now reconsider adding Madora Bay to the Infill Sewerage Program; and
(g) what is the criteria for areas to be considered as target areas for Infill Sewerage?

(a) The Liberal-National Government takes the environment and health of Western Australians very seriously and in November, I directed the Water Corporation to re-prioritise works so that Spearwood residents will have access to infill sewerage by the end of 2011.
It is because of tough economic times over the past year that sacrifices had to be made and the sewerage infill programme was suspended.
Questions need to be asked about the priorities of the previous Labor Government, as while Western Australia was going through some of the best economic times, Labor slashed the infill sewerage program.
Many localities seeking infill sewerage today, such as Madora Bay, are localities that could have had work started many years ago during the good economic times.
(b)  The Madora Bay projects were considered in the early stages of the Infill Sewerage Program.
(i) Not applicable
(c) August 1997
(d)  A potential for the contamination of local bores used for drinking water existed and this was one factor in connecting the area to scheme water.
(e) The Madora Bay projects were removed from the Infill Sewerage Program in September 2006.
(f-g)  The Liberal-National Government will examine any future infill sewerage programme as a course of budgetary processes.
