(1) would a state of the environment report assist in providing information on the condition of Threatened Ecological Communities (TECs)? (2) does the WA government prioritise industry approvals over protection of the environment? (3) do you believe the WA government is enabling its regulatory bodies to meet the requirements of WA’s environmental protection laws? (4) what are the greatest threats to threatened ecological communities in WA? (5) is the WA government enabling adequate protection of TECs? (6) what is required for adequate protection of WA’s TECs? (7) why are TECs and TEC management important? (8) how can the department give full effect to protections and effectively monitor TECs? (9) what would the department need to work through the backlog of Priority Ecological Communities that are threatened or rare and likely threatened, in order for these PECs to become listed and protected? (10) how do you best see the time from nomination to listing being reduced? (11) how do we ensure that TECs that are not on department-managed land are best monitored and protected? (12) what would help the department undertake more effective monitoring, research and management? (13) is the department able to effectively use all the protection mechanisms available to it under the law: (a) if yes to (13), is it doing so; (b) if no to (13), why not; and (c) if no to (13), what would assist the department on this front? (14) what is the department’s objective for WA’s TECs? (15) what is the department’s plan for ensuring that all TECs have recovery plans? (16) will the department implement a statewide strategic plan for TECs? (17) will the department implement a monitoring and reporting framework for TEC conservation?

An answer to these questions cannot be provided without breaching Standing Order 106. The information sought is extensive and would require an unreasonable diversion of departmental resources.
If the Honourable Member reframes the question into a more concise question that also does not seek an opinion, I will endeavour to provide a response consistent with the Legislative Council Standing Orders.
