(1) The Department for Planning and Infrastructure (DPI), in coordination with Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) and affected local governments, is undertaking a road network analysis in the wider area of the Busselton region to determine the functionality of the primary road network, including any missing links. Amongst other issues, this will enable DPI and Main Roads to determine the need for a further link between Busselton and Dunsborough (often referred to as the Busselton Outer Bypass) in the future. On current projects there is insufficient justification at present to build the Outer Bypass, in terms of traffic volumes, the date for construction is not likely to be within the next seven years - however timetables are being reviewed annually. (2) As the only study to date has been a road network analysis, the soil types have not been considered.
