1)
(a) Metropolitan = 244, Regional WA = figures not available as accurate specific data was not recorded at this time.
(b) 797 (Metropolitan = 382, Regional WA = 415)
(c) 723 (Metropolitan = 356, Regional WA = 367)
(d) 459 (Metropolitan = 283, Regional WA = 176)
2)
For Regional WA the average cost per escort is $900 - $1000 per officer.
The average costs for the metropolitan region cannot be provided as there is a difference in the way mental health patient escort expenses are recorded administratively in metropolitan and Regional WA i.e. mental health escorts in Regional WA will generally incur a Travel Allowance and this financial data is recorded in RMIS.  To determine an average cost per escort in the metropolitan region would take a significant amount of time to collate. The Commissioner of Police has advised he is not prepared to divert resources from core policing activities to obtain this information.
