HANSON QUARRY,
RED HILL — CARE AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
665. Hon
ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:
I refer to a letter dated 11 February 2010—reference
33-06080—regarding the Hanson quarry at Red Hill, in which it was
stated that the quarry was the subject of a care and maintenance program
pending a decision regarding its future use. Given the ongoing investigation
into Hanson's activities at the site after the cessation of its
approval to quarry in the main body of the pit as of 17 December 2009 —
(1) Will the minister please table the care and maintenance
program referred to in the above letter?
(2) If no to (1), why not?

I thank the member for some notice of this question, which I
note was given on Tuesday, 14 August.
(1)–(2)
I am advised that in the Environmental Protection Authority's
assessment of the proposal, a care and maintenance program was required. The
program is therefore not a matter for the planning portfolio.
