COSSACK TOWN SITE —
SALE
1246. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the government's
somewhat unclear plans—to me, anyway—for the future
revitalisation of the Cossack town site out of Karratha, and the repeated lack
of clear answers to previous questions I have asked on this topic. I also refer
to an article in The Sunday Times of Sunday, 8 November titled, ''WA
Town on the Market''. Has the minister
been asked to have any input into the decision to list Cossack town site for
sale, and has she consulted with existing landowners in Cossack?

I thank the member for the
question.
No, I have not been involved in the
decision to sell it. I want to make it clear, as I understand it, that this
property is actually owned by the state government, so I am not quite sure what
the member means when she asks whether the
state has asked the landowner for approval to sell. The state owns that
particular asset. I understand that a decision has been made to test the
market to see whether someone would want to take on that asset and invest in it
so that there would be some opportunity to add to the tourism product available
in this state.
