I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) The $1.8 million allocated to youth mental health is for
expenditure in the 2015–16 financial year.
(2) The $1.8 million forms part of recurrent funding for
non-admitted health services.
(3)–(4)
The Mental Health Commission is working with WA Country Health Service
regarding the finalisation of the specifications for this service. A priority
for early investment will be a dedicated community-based youth mental health
team in the south west. The team will provide rapid assessment and referral to
specialist services for young people—aged 16 to 24—experiencing
a mental health crisis, and support those who require hospital care as they
transition back to home. When required, the service will support the young
person through an intensive six-week therapy program and help them transition
to longer-term treatment as needed.
