ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER CHILDREN - PROTECTION FROM ABUSE
I have a supplementary question: given the minister’s failure to protect children under her care when she was the Minister for Community Development, and given the well-documented cases of child abuse in Aboriginal communities, when will the minister direct the departments under her control to - and I quote the minister’s colleague the member for Kimberley - “do your bloody job”? Ms S.M. McHALE

Efforts in this area are well known to the community, particularly regarding the incredible effort of the government as a result of the tragic death of Susan Taylor. It is on the public record that Aboriginal leaders recognise the work the government is doing. Darryl Henry is reported in The Australian as saying that Western Australia is at least three steps ahead of every other Australian jurisdiction regarding the management of child abuse in Aboriginal communities.
