(1) In the intervening period since the referendum, has the Government conducted or commissioned any research into the impact of the introduction of extended trading hours on, -
(a) small businesses in Western Australia, including all operating costs;
(b) prices;
(c) family life of small business owners;
(d) employment; and
(e) inflationary pressures?
(2) If so, what are the results of this research?
(3) If not, will the Premier guarantee that the Government will undertake such research and publish the results well in advance of the next State Election, so that those who have already rejected the concept of extended trading hours may make an informed decision on the latest information available?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
(5) In detail, what extended trading hours does the Premier and/or the Government envisage on, -
(a) weeknights; and
(b) weekends?
(6) What flexibility will small business owners have to decide whether they wish to open under the proposed extended trading hours?
(7) What protection does the Government propose for small business owners in shopping centres, to ensure that they are not compelled to open against their wishes?
(8) Will the Government ensure that lease agreements for small business owners will not compel them to open against their wishes?
(9) If no to (8), why not?
(10) Has the Government given any consideration to the hours at which a small business may open for business on a particular day, eg. 8.00 am, 8.30 am, 9.00 am, 9.30 am or 10.00 am?
(11) If yes to (10), what are the details?
(12) If no to (10), will it give such consideration?
(13) If no to (12), why not?
(14) Will the Premier consider publishing a ‘For’ and ‘Against’ case concerning extended trading hours well in advance of the next State Election?
