CANNABIS — DRIVER IMPAIRMENT
542. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer the minister to the
announcement last week that the Treasurer in Victoria had committed $5.2 million
to a cannabis driving trial in the recent state budget. I acknowledge that here
in WA, the government has opted to convene a ministerial working group across
several ministries.
(1) What funds
have been allocated to the ministerial working group in this year's WA
state budget to ensure that it is adequately provisioned to undertake the
necessary research?
(2) Can the
minister assure both the house and ordinary Western Australians that WA is not
falling behind other states due to a lack of government resourcing?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the
Minister for Health.
(1)–(2) The ministerial
working group will be funded through existing budgets.
