(1) Given that Western Australia is currently considering and promoting developments that will increase its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 17.42 million tonnes a year, an increase of around 30 percent on total emissions in Western Australia, will the Premier explain in some detail how Western Australia will help Australia meet its international commitments?
(2) What is the Government doing, in terms of programs, financial outlays and departmental directives, to encourage the development of less greenhouse intensive industries, including industries that recover resource materials rather than mine new materials, more efficient processes and the use of renewable sources of energy?
(3) Given that when the Australian Greenhouse Office approached the State Government just before the last State election offering to undertake a Western Australia breakdown of greenhouse gas emissions this approach was refused, will the Premier please explain on what basis this refusal was made?
(4) Does this offer still stand?
(5) If yes, when the Government will avail itself of this offer?
(6) If not, why not?
(7) As the only figures available on Western Australian greenhouse gas emissions are for 1995 at a time when most other states had an estimate published for 1999, can the Premier explain when a full and proper Western Australian inventory will be compiled?
(8) If not, why not?

(7) Western Australia will extract an inventory of 2001 greenhouse gas data from the new National Database currently under construction by the Australian Greenhouse Office. Western Australia expects to have this inventory by mid 2003. (Only Victoria and Queensland published 1999 figures.) (8) Not applicable.
