The rail service between Albany and Perth ceased operating a few decades ago. Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s population is similar to that of Albany and currently enjoys the benefits of a daily rail passenger service to Perth. (1) What is involved in reintroducing the Albany to Perth railway line to a standard acceptable for a passenger rail service? (2) What are the associated costs? Hon KEN TRAVERS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. I note that the Minister for the Great Southern and the member for Albany have a keen interest in this issue. As I informally indicated to the member, it is not possible to provide him with that information in the time required today. However, I will endeavour to provide the member with the required information in the next sitting week.
