I refer the minister to a letter from the President of the Dandaragan Parents and Citizens Association of 17 November, requesting urgent assistance in providing an extra classroom, given that the school of 81 students, and the number is growing, has only three classrooms. (1) Given the 38 per cent budget cuts for transportable classrooms in 2001-02, is the minister satisfied that the current budget is sufficient to meet the existing demands for extra classroom space? (2) Although it should not have to, if the Dandaragan community decided to raise the money to build an approved standard classroom via a school building fund, can the minister indicate whether and how the Department of Education and Training would help facilitate the process? (3) Have state schools established funds of this nature in the past, and are contributions to a properly constituted building fund tax deductible? (4) At the very least, if the Dandaragan community decides to raise the money, will the minister guarantee that the Government will not put up unnecessary barriers to prevent it from funding an extra approved standard classroom?
