FIONA
STANLEY HOSPITAL — SERCO CONTRACT — MINISTER FOR HEALTH'S
COMMENTS
835. Mr R.H. COOK to the
Minister for Health:
Well said, Mr Speaker!
I refer to the ministerXXX ###XXXs
evidence to the Education and Health Standing Committee today that confirms
that the cost of activity at Fiona Stanley Hospital is higher than that at
comparable hospitals. Given that the Serco contract is largely fixed price, can
the minister confirm that while the contract remains in place, in order to
reduce the cost per activity he will have to cut clinical staff to make the
hospital cost-competitive?

I know the member was not there and I was. His comments are
interesting, because I do not recall actually saying that at all. I do not know
where the member got that information from, but they are not the words that I used
and that is not what I said.
