(a) - (b) No decision has been made regarding the future of the existing concrete batching plants.
Late last year, I called in the two applications for review lodged with the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) for development applications for the Hanson and Holcim batching plants in East Perth.
These applications proposed the continued operation of the concrete batching plants.
SAT hearings were scheduled for late February and early March 2012 to consider the matters and make recommendations to me. I understand these hearings have been completed, and I am awaiting SAT's advice. I expect SAT will have considered all relevant planning matters, including traffic impacts.
In respect of air emissions, the setting of standards and monitoring is within the jurisdiction of the Environmental Protection Authority.
