I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1)–(2)
The Department of Education advises that the following figures represent the
number of principals appointed in 2011 and 2012, including those who previously
had served in an acting principal capacity only. In 2011, 15 were appointed to
primary schools, eight to secondary schools and three to other schools, which
means district high schools and remote community schools. In 2012, 15 were
appointed to primary schools, one to a secondary school and two to other
schools. The Department of Education advises that the following figures
represent the number of principals appointed in 2011 and 2012 who had never
served in a principal role previously. In 2011, seven were appointed to primary
schools, zero to secondary schools and three to other schools. In 2012, one was
appointed to a primary school, one to a secondary school and two to other
schools. There are 509 primary schools, 86 secondary schools and 171 other
schools, being district high schools and remote community schools, in Western
Australia.
