DIRECTOR GENERAL'S VISITS — ASIA
669. Hon NIGEL HALLETT to the Minister
for Agriculture and Food:
(1) Could the
minister please advise the number of times the director general of the
Department of Agriculture and Food has visited the following countries since
2010 —
(a) Indonesia;
(b) Japan; and
(c) China?
(2) What was the total cost of these
visits?
(3) How many signed contracts for Western Australian
businesses have resulted from these visits?

(1) (a) Indonesia, twice.
(b) Japan, once.
(c) China, six times.
(2) Approximately $76 000, plus
additional on-ground costs.
(3) It is not
the role of the director general to either sign contracts for Western
Australian businesses or monitor business that may have been initiated or
assisted by overseas trade and development investment promotion visits.
