DESALINATION PLANT - LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
(1) Was the Water Corporation given an exemption on its desalination plant licensing requirements, allowing it to reduce monitoring of oxygen levels in Cockburn Sound? (2) If yes, why? (3) Will the minister provide details of the current monitoring regime to determine the impact of the output from the desalination plant? Hon JON FORD

I thank Hon Barbara Scott for some notice of the question. The Minister for the Environment has supplied the following answer - (1) No. (2) Not applicable. (3) Yes. The details of the monitoring requirements are in conditions 4 to 11 of the licence issued under the provisions of the Environment Protection Act 1986. I table that licence. [See paper 2584.]
