I ask a question with regard to the appointment of a Commissioner for Children and Young People. (1) Has the panel of children to be involved in the selection process been assembled yet? (2) If yes, what are the ages and backgrounds of the children on the panel and how were they selected? (3) If no, what are the Attorney General’s intentions regarding the composition and selection of the panel? Hon SUE ELLERY

(3) Under the Commissioner for Children and Young People Act 2006, the Premier is responsible for the selection process. A specialist in interacting with children is to be engaged and will advise the selection panel on how children of different ages and from a variety of backgrounds can be involved in the selection process. The Office of Children and Youth is also being consulted.
