Road safety—Unsignposted regional roads
987. Hon Julie Freeman to
the minister representing the Minister for Road
Safety:
I refer to the
federal government's proposal to slash the default speed limit on unsignposted
regional roads across Australia, which could see speed limits reduced to as low
as 70 kilometres an hour.
(1) Did the state government make a submission to
the federal government regarding this proposal?
(2) If yes to (1),
will the minister table a copy of that submission?
(3) Will the state government undertake any
assessment of the potential economic, social and safety-related impacts that
such a reduction in default speed limits would have on regional communities
within this state in particular?
