Hon JOHN FISCHER to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Education: (1) How many students commenced year 8 at Meekatharra District High School in 1996, 1997 and 1998? (2) How many of those students completed year 10 in 1999, 2000 and 2001? (3) How many students commenced year 10 at Meekatharra District High School this year? (2) Numbers of students who completed year 10 are: 1999, 13; 2000, 14; and 2001, eight. There was insufficient time to analyse student records to ensure that these figures relate to the same students as mentioned in (1). (3) 16. (4) Programs in place at the school include a special year 10 literacy and numeracy program; the Wila Gutharra traineeship program, which is an Aboriginal enterprise that provides training with the aim of employment and in which three students are currently involved; and a farm program set up with funding from a mining company.
