GREENWOOD TRAIN STATION — SERVICES
(1) Has the minister considered the merits and implications of the shuttle train service that connects Cockburn Central station with Whitfords station, stopping at the Greenwood station? (2) If yes, what was the outcome of the minister’s consideration? Hon SIMON O’BRIEN

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Yes; the question of stopping at Greenwood station has been looked at. (2) Changes to the timetable have not been introduced for the following reasons. First, any alteration to the existing stopping pattern would require a change to the Mandurah line timetable because of the additional dwell times required. This could result in a reduction of overall timetable services for the Joondalup–Mandurah line. Bus timetables would also need to be amended for selected stations on the Joondalup–Mandurah line. Second, Greenwood currently receives on average a five-minute train service in the morning peak from 6.46 to 7.40 am and a 10-minute train service till 8.48 am. This level of service is more than adequate for a non bus–rail interchange station and is a comparable level of service for other stations with similar patronage levels, such as Currambine and Edgewater stations.
