In answering the above questions it is assumed that the reference to 'surrenders' pertains to areas that will be
excluded
from a number of pastoral leases following their renewal in 2015.
(a) 75
(i) 1 032 145 hectares
(b) 16
(i) 403 705 hectares
(c) The pastoral regions of Goldfields-Nullarbor, Gascoyne, Kimberley, Murchison and Pilbara.
(i) Goldfields-Nullarbor 42 690 hectares
Gascoyne 52 719 hectares
Kimberley 163 702 hectares
Murchison 46 432 hectares
Pilbara 322 897 hectares
(d) Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Murchison and Goldfields-Nullarbor.
(i) Kimberley 190 464 hectares
Pilbara 2 555 hectares
Gascoyne 121 076 hectares
Murchison 2 949 hectares
Goldfields-Nullarbor 86 661 hectares
(e) It is not possible to identify the administrative costs associated with the exclusion process as these costs have been incurred over a substantial period of time in various departments. Compensation will be payable for lawful improvements located on areas of existing pastoral lease to be excluded in 2015.
(f) The exclusion process is not related to the Rangelands Reform Program.
(g) The 2015 exclusions are on track to be delivered by 1 July 2015.
