JUVENILE OFFENDERS —
MONITORING
576. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Minister for Education and
Training:
My question is without notice so it
might assist the minister if I hand her a copy of the question. I refer to the
minister's answer to my question without notice yesterday in which she
informed the house that Catholic Education Western Australia is the only school
system in existence in our state.
(1) Is she aware of the Swan
Christian school system Western Australia?
(2) Is she aware of the Anglican
system Western Australia?
(3) Is she aware of the Seventh Day
Adventist system Western Australia?
(4) If no to any of (1)–(3),
why not?
(5) If yes to any of (1)–(3),
why did she mislead the house yesterday.

(1)–(5) If
the honourable member had sought my advice, I would have been happy to provide
him with a briefing about what constitutes a
system in the education portfolio and what does not. The Swan Christian,
Anglican and Seventh Day Adventist schools are fantastic schools,
offering great education; they are not deemed to be a ''system''
as is Catholic Education Western Australia. Therefore, I certainly did not
mislead the house yesterday.
