SOUTH WEST
CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE — FUNDING
176. Hon ADELE
FARINA to the Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the minister's answer to question without
notice 57, stating that no additional funding was provided to the south west
child and adolescent mental health service in 2011–12, and the minister's
answer to question on notice 6125, asked in 2012, stating that an additional
$220 000 had been allocated to SW CAMHS in 2011–12.
(1) Which answer is correct?
(2) When did
the minister become aware that her answer to question on notice 6125 was
incorrect, and what steps did the minister take to inform the house of her
error?

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) In regard
to the answers to question without notice 57 and question on notice 6125, both
answers are technically correct. If the member recalls looking at them, one
refers to allocation. The $222 000 growth funding was allocated in 2011–12
to the Department of Health for the WA Country Health Service south west child
and adolescent mental health service; however, due to issues including
recruitment, it was not received until 2012–13 by WACHS SW.
(2) As the
member recalls, when she asked that question last time, I indicated that I had
not had time to check; however, I was prepared to give the member the answer I
had in front of me. I went back and checked the next day, and over a period of
time I managed to get the information absolutely clarified for me. The matter
was brought to my attention recently, and I have now clarified that the
difference was in semantics.
