931. Hon Jim Scott to the Attorney General representing the Minister for Planning:
The Hope Valley-Wattleup Redevelopment Bill 2000 proposes that an area of Hope Valley will be taken up by heavy industry. As this will be close to the Kwinana Motorplex and will be incompatible with safety requirements for its patrons -
(a) what research has been done;
(b) what clearances have been obtained from the DEP and Emergency Services; and
(c) what steps will be taken,
to allow heavy industry into this area while ensuring the safety of patrons?

An identical question was asked without notice (1303) on Tuesday 27 June 2000, and the response remains the same.
(a)-(c) The heavy industrial proposal in the FRIARS report is a preliminary proposal. This will be further explored in the preparation of the Master Plan for the area, including more detailed analysis of environmental factors.
