I refer to the Mills Street main drain's continuing failure to meet long term total nitrogen and total phosphorous targets. I also refer to the CSIRO's recommendation to monitor nutrient speciation in effective best management practice evaluation, and I ask —
(1) What, if any, monitoring of nutrient species levels are being undertaken within Mills Street main drain?
(2) If monitoring is being undertaken, please specify the how the monitoring is being undertaken?
(3) Please table the results from the last three years of any such monitoring?

(1) The following nutrient species are monitored in Mills St main drain: total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), total oxidised nitrogen (NOx), nitrogen as ammonia/ammonium (NH3), soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP), dissolved organic nitrogen (DON), and dissolved organic carbon (DOC).
(2) Monitoring of Mills St main drain is undertaken on a fortnightly basis when the drain is flowing. Fully trained staff from the Department of Water perform this monitoring in accordance with a rigorous quality assurance/quality control protocol that was designed specifically for the catchment monitoring program.
(3) Quarterly reports which outline the results from this monitoring are available on the Swan River Trust website. These reports also provide context by comparing the most recent results with data collected in the previous five years.
