METRONET — BAYSWATER TRAIN STATION
351. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing
Minister for Transport:
The PRESIDENT : I give the
call to Hon Tjorn Sibma.
Hon TJORN SIBMA : I was deep
in thought but I have prepared for this moment, thank you very much.
The PRESIDENT : He is quick
on this feet, Hon Tjorn Sibma!
Hon TJORN SIBMA : It is the
kind of indulgency you hope for.
I refer to the intention to close
Railway Parade between Coode Street and Drake Street from the end of March for
a period of 15 months.
(1) When was the
minister made aware that the road closure was required to facilitate Metronet's
delivery?
(2) Can the minister advise when
local businesses where consulted on the potential closure?
(3) Why do local businesses claim
that the announcements had caught local businesses by surprise?
(4) Given the failure to keep the public informed of
the effect of the project, will the minister now agree to implement the
Auditor General's recommendation made in 2020 and repeated in 2022 to
improve transparency on major projects through the regular reporting to
Parliament and the public on the cost, time and status of major projects?
