(2) Both the Veterinary Surgeons Board and the Australian Veterinary Association have contributed to the ongoing review of the Act and their contributions have been most valuable. (3) The disciplinary powers of the Veterinary Surgeons Board have been transferred to the State Administrative Tribunal. All other roles and responsibilities remain with the Veterinary Surgeons Board. I have asked for advice on the operation of the new arrangements within the veterinary profession and have asked for recommendations on amendments to the Veterinary Surgeons Act that might improve those arrangements. (4) Yes. The Veterinary Surgeons Act has been under ongoing review and later this year I expect to receive from the Board and my Department proposals for amendments to improve the Act. (5) The standard of veterinary service in Western Australia is amongst the highest in the world and new veterinarians entering the profession in Western Australia have world wide recognition. As an example, the Murdoch Veterinary School is one of few veterinary schools outside the United States of America whose graduates are accepted for national registration in the United States.
