I refer to Albany Health Campus being at capacity in both the emergency department and acute care wards, with pressure being placed on the facility by aged care patients awaiting placement in appropriate aged care facilities, and I ask : (a) How many Care Awaiting Placement patients are currently at Albany Health Campus; (b) How many days have has each patient been classified as Care Awaiting Placement; (c) What plans are in place to manage these patients into more suitable facilities; and (d) How many times in the past six months has surgery been cancelled because of lack of beds for patients post-surgery?

(a) 13 patients classified as Care Awaiting Placement as at 14 August 2025
(b) Patient stays since classified as Care Awaiting Placement range from eight (8) days to 185 days (average 63.5 days).
(c)
· The Albany Health Campus Social Work team work proactively with patients and families to expedite access to Residential Aged Care Facilities, and continually liaise with local facilities.
· Patients are encouraged to apply to at least three local Residential Aged Care Facilities in accordance with policy.
· Every suitable patient is offered access to Respite Pilot beds.
· Every patient is assessed for suitability to be offered care at WACHS Great Southern Multi-Purpose Site (MPS) whilst awaiting Residential Aged Care facility placement.
· WA Country Health Service Great Southern has initiated negotiations with a local Residential Aged Care Facilities to open existing unutilised beds.
