(b) if not, will the Minister explain why not; and (c) if not, when will these facilities be made available to consumers?
(c) if not, when will these facilities be made available to consumers?
In my reply to question on notice November 17, 2003 I stated that the Department for Planning and Infrastructure has a number of projects in train to examine on-line payment options. I also stated that the largest of these projects, which involves a substantial upgrade of the State’s motor vehicle and driver licensing system, was scheduled for implementation before the end of the year. Regrettably, the finalisation of this system has taken longer than I was advised. I am now advised that the system will be operational from July 2004. From this time, EFTPOS facilities will come on line as the system is deployed to licensing centres throughout Western Australia. The establishment of credit card and Bpay payment options can be introduced through the system but will be subject to economic evaluation before being introduced. Credit card payment of Licensing invoices will continue to be available via phone and the internet.
