The Royalties for Regions funds will be spent on the Drug and Alcohol Office's Northwest Drug and Alcohol Support Program.
Following open tender processes undertaken in 2011/12 and 2012/13 to expand alcohol and other drug (AOD) service delivery in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, the following providers are engaged under service agreements to deliver these services:
o WA Country Health Service (WACHS) - Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek, Kununurra, Karratha
o Cyrenian House - Broome
o Bloodwood Tree Association - Port Hedland
Mission Australia will commence delivery of the services in Karratha and Tom Price from 1 January 2014 and negotiations are underway to secure a provider for Newman.
The additional resources build on prevention initiatives and allow for more comprehensive and sustained services, including improved access to treatment and support in remote locations.
