PEEL
HEALTH CAMPUS — LEGAL ACTION
627. Mr R.H. COOK to the Minister for Health:
I refer to the private operator of the Peel Health Campus,
which has now injuncted or threatened legal action against two Perth newspapers
and a former employee, and yesterday executed an Anton Piller civil search
order against a former employee.
(1) Does the
minister endorse former staff being subjected to civil search orders by one of
the government's contractors?
(2) Does
this company still enjoy the minister's full confidence as the private
operator of the hospital?

(1)–(2)
I do not think this has anything to do with the government or me as minister,
to be honest. What a private company does with a private individual is
absolutely nothing to do with government.
Several
members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members!
Dr K.D. HAMES : That is right, the
opposition made false claims in this house about the proposal from the company,
saying that it sought a 60-year extension on the management program at the
hospital, therefore deliberately misleading the public and this house.
Mr R.H. Cook interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Kwinana!
Dr K.D. HAMES : So, the answer is: no, I
do not intend to have any involvement in that particular issue, and what the
company does is up to that company.
