I am unaware of anything that the Queensland government may
have done in that regard, but I am aware that yesterday and today the state
oppositions—the Liberal Party, in fact—in Queensland and
Victoria both made statements in Parliament
that their state governments should put in place a package like the Western Australian
Labor government has. Louise Staley,
the shadow Treasurer in Victoria, asked a question of the Victorian Premier
endorsing our package and asking the Victorian government to do it. Mr
Andrew Powell from the Liberal National Party in Queensland put a question to the Queensland Premier asking for a package
to be put in place like the Western Australian government has done. We
have received the endorsement of state oppositions in other states.
There are a lot of people commenting around the place about
what might have been done here or there. There is lots of information that may
or may not be accurate. What I do not want to do is take irrational actions on
the basis of innuendo or statements by people that may or may not be true. We
want to put in place the best measures we can. I want to make sure that we have
resources available for the tourism industry for a very significant campaign to
ensure that the industry rebounds when this crisis is over.
