(1) How many ‘appropriate authority investigations’ into alleged misconduct were conducted by Agencies under your control?
(2) Of the total, how many are complete?
(3) What was the finding from the investigation?
(4) Was a report done on each of those investigations?
(5) If no to (4), why not?
(6) Were these reports made public?
(7) If no to (6), why not?
(8) How many investigations are still ongoing/outstanding?
(9) What is the nature of the investigations?

Department of Local Government including the Office of Multicultural Interests
The Department of Local Government carries out the function of regulating the operations and affairs of all local governments in Western Australiaand the Indian OceanTerritories.
In the course of its operations, the Department receives and inquires into complaints about local governments.
(1) During the period of 2008/2009, 280 complaints were received by the Department of Local Government and 33 complaints were received by the Local Government Standards Panel.
(2) 293 complaints were completed by the Department, which includes a carryover from uncompleted complaints from the previous year, and 32 by the Standards Panel.
(3) Three investigations that commenced prior to the financial year of 2008/2009 have been finalised with the prosecution and conviction of three councillors. These matters involved charges concerning the releasing of confidential information, failing to vote on a number of occasions and failing to declare financial interests.

(7) The Department does not publish its investigation reports, however, major inquiries are tabled and published in parliament. This financial year the Department is finalising two major inquiries into the Shires of Cue and SharkBay.
(8) 2008/2009 - 67 complaints are still being investigated.

Local Government Act 1995
, concerns about planning matters and general governance issues.
