(ii) cut to seed trees?
(ii) thinned?
2) Not applicable 3) Chiplogs are a legitimate residue by-product from operations which produce sawlog or from thinning operations which enhance the health and vigour of young regrowth stands. The Forest Products Commission sells chiplogs to WA Plantation Resources under Sale Contract number 2525 and it is not planned to reduce the quantities of chiplogs as specified in the contract. (4)a(i) The annual area of mature karri forest that was recorded as clearfelled without seed trees was: 1994 - 1,400 hectares 1995 - 2,270 hectares 1996 - 1,300 hectares 1997 - 1,840 hectares 1998 - 1,970 hectares 1999 - 1,890 hectares 2000 - 1,310 hectares (4)a(ii) Areas of mature karri forest were recorded as cut to seed trees in the following years: 1994 - 40 hectares 1995 - 140 hectares 1997 - 10 hectares The limited area cut to seed trees during this period was primarily due to the difficulty of coinciding the harvest with seed crops when there was a lack of certainty in the short-term harvest plans - due to continual revisions associated with the Deferred Forest Agreement, Regional Forest Agreement, and forest protest activities. (4)b(i) During this period approximately 20 hectares of regrowth karri was clearfelled in 1997. This comprised a number of small patches that had been previously killed by wildfire. (4)b(ii) The annual area of regrowth karri that was recorded as thinned was: 1994 - 0 1995 - 0 1996 - 60 hectares 1997 - 60 hectares 1998 - 320 hectares 1999 - 360 hectares 2000 - 70 hectares
