The Minister for Industry and Enterprise has provided the following response: (1) On 19 January 2007, a memo from my office was forwarded to TIAC members by the Chairman of TIAC advising the Cabinet reshuffle had raised issues regarding the proposed establishment of a new advisory council. Also, that I had subsequently asked the current review of the Industry and Technology Development Act to examine the roles of the proposed Science and Innovation Council and TIAC. This was to ensure that policy and legislative needs of the government are met by the new structure. An accompanying memo from the Chairman of TIAC advised members that, depending on the timing of the review, TIAC may need to meet to fulfil its statutory requirements under the Industry and Technology Development Act (1998). (a) TIAC has continued to meet in accordance with the Act. (2) TIAC Council meetings were held in 2006 on the following dates: 20/02/06 20/03/06 22/05/06 29/06/06 24/07/06 21/08/06 25/09/06 23/10/06 27/11/06 In 2007, TIAC met on 20 February. The next TIAC meeting is scheduled for 23 April 2007. (3) TIAC is provided with a notional recurrent operating budget by the Department of Industry and Resources. In 2006/07 the operating budget is $535,000. TIAC's detailed annual operating budget is developed early in each financial year by the TIAC Executive Officer in consultation with Departmental officers.
