(1)-(4) The members of the committee on succession law reform are Keith Chapman, Principal Registrar of the Supreme Court of Western Australia; Mrs Elizabeth Heenan from Marks and Sands; Mrs Susan Fielding from Minter Ellison; Dr John Hockley from Francis Burt Chambers; Dr Peter MacMillan from Francis Burt Chambers; Dr Peter Handford from the University of Western Australia; Ms Pamela McMahon, who is the Public Trustee Office’s representative; Ms Sabina Schlink from Plan B Financial Services Ltd; and Ms Ilse Petersen from the State Solicitor’s Office. The committee has met on the following occasions: 12 February 2004, 9 March 2004, 29 April 2004, 18 May 2004, 9 June 2004, 22 July 2004, 26 August 2004, 23 September 2004 and 28 October 2004. The next meeting is scheduled for 25 November 2004. The committee has not presented an interim report to the Attorney General on its deliberations to date. In 1992, the Attorney General for Queensland remitted a reference to the Queensland Law Reform Commission to coordinate a project to make recommendations designed to make uniform succession laws in all Australian States and Territories - the succession law project. Parts 1 and 2 of the final reports of the QLRC on the law of wills and family provision have been presented to the Standing Committee of Attorneys General of Australia. It is anticipated that further reports will be completed in the next three years. The committee is following the review process of the QLRC, and commenced with a review of the law of wills. The review of wills is nearing completion. A Bill relating to succession law reform cannot be considered before the QLRC completes the succession law project.
