WATER
CORPORATION — HARRIS DAM
1238. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the
minister representing the Minister for Water:
I refer to the reports that the water level in Harris Dam
near Collie is 30 per cent lower than it was at this time last year and that
the levels of other smaller dams in the south west are 15 per cent lower than
they were at this time last year.
(1) Were these
levels projected by the Water Corporation and taken into consideration when
preparing for supply to customers over summer?
(2) Is the Water Corporation relying on reasonable rain and
run-off to replenish the dams next year?
(3) If a reasonable
level of rainfall and run-off is not met, what will the Water Corporation do to
continue to supply water next year?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question. On behalf of the Minister for Water I advise the following.
(1)–(3)
The Water Corporation is continually reviewing water supply across the state to
ensure that summer requirements can be met if winter rainfall and inflow to
dams is low.
