I refer to the unmet resource needs of Dandaragan Primary School. Given that the headmistress and a teacher at Dandaragan Primary School have both taken stress leave in the last month -
(1) What evidence of undue stress, experienced by either staff and/or students as a result of insufficient resources, is required for the Minister to approve funding for the construction of a fourth classroom?
(2) Can the Minister outline what ‘formula’ is used by the Department of Education in the allocation and management of funding and resources for primary schools?
(3) What consideration to ongoing signs of stress (either in the staff or student body), diminished quality of teaching and/or academic outcomes is given in the application of this formula?

2. Subject to student enrolments the number of primary classrooms is calculated as: · The number of students in Years 1, 2 and 3 divided by 24, plus · The number of students in Years 4, 5, 6 and 7 divided by 32. · The total number is then rounded up the nearest whole number which will give the number of classrooms. · There is no formula for Kindergarten and Pre- Primary students. 3. The formula for the allocation of school classrooms is based on student enrolments.
