(b) The services/supports provided under You Development Services and Youth Support Services are as follows: Youth Development Services
· Awards WA deliver the Awards WA services to young people aged 10-24 years of age. Programs include the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and WA based Ignite Award. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is delivered to young people aged 14 to 24 years, challenging young people to find their purpose, passion and place in the world. The Ignite award is a challenging program of discovery for young people aged 10 to 14 years and provides a framework to learn valuable skills, be physically active, assist others in the community and experience adventures.
· Girl Guides Western Australia Inc. delivers the Australian Guide Program that provides non-formal educational programs and international opportunities for young women aged 10 to 24 years. Programs include Youth Development, Leadership, Volunteering, Life Skills and Community Participation. The Program operates in 124 locations across Western Australia.
· The Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation delivers the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Voyages and Volunteer Extension service, which is a universal one-week sailing program to develop skills in leadership, team work, communication, self-confidence and a sense of community for young people aged 14 to 24 years. Through the Volunteer Extension service young participants are encouraged to return as volunteers on the STS Leeuwin II to further develop their leadership skills and assists others in the community.
· Propel Youth Arts WA Incorporated delivers KickstART events and activities to celebrate the National Youth Week (NYW) in Perth and other regional areas. Activities provide an opportunity for youth aged 12 to 25 years to share ideas, attend live events, speak on issues of concern, showcase their talents, and celebrate their contribution to the community.
· The Boys’ Brigade Western Australia delivers the Boys Brigade services that provide leadership training for youth aged 14 to 18 years of age. Activities include camps, regular meetings and events designed to promote opportunities for the development of youth leadership, volunteering, personal development and cultural competency.
· T he Girls' Brigade WA Inc delivers the Girls’ Brigade WA programs that provide workshops and activities to young girls and women 10 to 17 years of age. Activities including camps, regular meetings and events are designed to promote opportunities for the development of youth leadership, volunteering, personal development and cultural competency.
· The Scout Association of Australia, Western Australian Branch delivers the Scout Program which builds youth leadership, provides recognition of participation and achievement, offers volunteering opportunities and personal development through fun, engaging, physically challenging and mentally stimulating activities.
· YMCA of Perth Youth and Community Services Inc , deliver the Aspire Program. The Aspire program works with young people aged 12 to 24 years in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and across the Goldfields region, delivering activities to support development of knowledge, confidence and skills. Programs include the Mixed Youth Disability Engagement and Active Youth Sessions which promote disabilities and disability awareness in partnership with local organisations:
o HEAL (Health, Excellence, Achieve, Lifestyle) targets young women aged 13 to 18 years of age, and encourages physical activity, healthy eating choices and the development of positive self-image, and
o Helping Hand Social Advancement and Support Project assist in creating youth friendly spaces.
· YMCA of Perth Youth and Community Services Inc deliver the Youth Parliament program. This is a is a leadership program focussed on encouraging young people aged 15 to 24 years to actively participate in their community by providing opportunities to express their views, issues, concerns, and solutions. The program promotes youth led advocacy, active community leadership and parliamentary education.
Youth Support Services
· Yourtown provides the Kids Helpline Service, a free national telephone, web and email counselling service for young people aged up to 25 years. Although the Kids Helpline is delivered on a national basis and provides support to young people 5 to 25 years of age, the Department of Communities contributes to funding the Western Australian arm to support young people 12 to 25 years of age only.
· Youth Focus Inc. delivers the Youth and Family Support and Counselling Program that provides individual consultations via telephone and face-to-face counselling. It also provides personal development group work through peer support days, parent support evenings, formal referrals and active linkages to other supports in the community. The program is aimed at young people 12 to 18 years of age and their families.
(c) The WA State Government provides the Department of Communities with annual recurrent funding for nine Youth Development Services and two Youth Support Services as listed at (a) above.
