CANNABIS —
DRIVER IMPAIRMENT STUDY
1002. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer the minister to a recent
study highlighted in the August 2024 edition of the journal Addiction that analysed road fatalities in US jurisdictions that had legalised cannabis
and found that greater permissiveness in US state cannabis regulations does not
appear to correlate with traffic fatality rate increases.
(1) Has this paper been presented
to the working group on tetrahydrocannabinol and driving?
(2) If no to (1),
will the minister please ensure that the members of the group have access to it
as part of their ongoing considerations?
(3) Following on
from my question a month ago, can the minister please confirm whether the
working group has met in the 13 months since its establishment was announced;
and, if not, why not?
