HALLS CREEK - HOSTEL
I refer to the answer to my question on 22 June this year about the proposed hostel for Aboriginal children in Halls Creek, in which the minister advised that a time line had not been established, and to my further question on 26 September, when the minister told Parliament that, “A proposal is expected to be put before cabinet within the next few weeks”. (1) Has this matter gone to cabinet for consideration; and, if not, why not? (2) When will an announcement be made on the time frame for the hostel to be built and be operational? (3) Given the intense public concern about the tragic situation in Halls Creek, is the minister aware that, according to the POWAnet records, he has not issued a media statement on Halls Creek since he became minister and that the last media statement issued by the Minister for Indigenous Affairs on Halls Creek was seven months ago, on 19 April?
