DANNY GREEN – PAUL BRIGGS FIGHT — INQUIRY
I refer to the Danny Green – Paul Briggs fight. Hon Simon O’Brien : You must have bet on Paul Briggs—honestly; the number of questions you are asking about this! Hon KEN TRAVERS : I can tell the minister right now that this is one of the biggest scandals that have happened in this state. The minister can laugh, but he will see that in the long term. Do not worry. It is a sign of how his government treats these issues. I ask — (1) Which commissioners responded to the fight application circulated on 7 July 2010? (2) Was a formal vote taken to approve the fight; and, if yes, what was the result of the vote? (3) Did any commissioners who responded by circular resolution raise any concerns regarding the application; and, if yes, what concerns did they raise? (4) Who elected and engaged the medical practitioner, neurological professor and radiologist who provided advice to the commission? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)–(4) Hon Geoffrey Miller has been engaged to conduct an audit of the WA Professional Combat Sports Commission permit approvals process. This audit will be undertaken at the completion of the PCSC inquiry into the Green–Briggs fight. It would not be appropriate to comment on the approvals process for the Green–Briggs fight until the final report is submitted.
