HARDSHIP UTILITY GRANT SCHEME
447. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Community Services:
I refer to the answer the minister
provided to question without notice 302 asked previously. I am concerned about
the accuracy of the answer provided. I accept it may simply be a typo, but I ask
the minister to have the answer reviewed. Specifically, I draw her attention to
the fact that the total number of hardship utility grant scheme applications
approved is more than the number of requests made by 5 629. Clearly, this is
incorrect. Second, the total grant requests made is stated as being 37 197, yet
the figures provided add to 94 433. Third, the total grant approvals are listed
as 42 826, yet calculate to be 90 466. The total value of grants approved is
stated as $35 813 427, yet the figure we have calculated from the figures
provided is closer to $36 872 634. These are considerable discrepancies. Can
the minister please clarify these anomalies?

still current today. One of the figures the member stated is slightly different from the figure that I have
written here. I will give him the answer and he can check whether he needs it
to be further clarified. On behalf of the minister, I apologise for the incorrect
information provided to the member as part of the response to question
without notice 302. This resulted from an administrative error.
