PRISONS — SUICIDE AND SELF-HARM ATTEMPTS AND OUT-OF-CELL HOURS
1486. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Corrective Services:
(1) Will the
minister please provide the following information for Hakea Prison and
Casuarina Prison respectively for August, September and October 2024 —
(a) the number of suicide and
self-harm attempts; and
(b) the monthly average out-of-cell
hours?
(2) Will the minister provide the
population for each prison as of 12 November 2024?

some notice of the question. I provide the following information on behalf of
the Minister for Emergency Services representing the Minister for Corrective
Services.
The answer to question (1)(a) is in tabular form. It refers
to Casuarina attempted suicide and self-harm instances between 1 August and 31
October 2024 by month. Table 2 refers to Hakea attempted suicide and self-harm
instance between 1 August and 31 October 2024 by month. Table 3 refers to
Casuarina and Hakea average out-of-cell hours between 1 August and 31 October
2024 by month.
I seek leave to have those three
tables incorporated into Hansard .
