RENEWABLE ENERGY TARGETS — FEDERAL LABOR
POLICY
174. Mr D.C. NALDER to the Minister for Energy:
I have a supplementary question. Why is the minister refusing
to seek clarification on this policy that will put in jeopardy the future of
Collie and will have a significant impact on the economic future of Western Australia?

Firstly, the member should have asked that question first. He
asked a specific question.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! I want to hear the answer.
Mr W.J. JOHNSTON : I understand that the member for
Churchlands is in charge of tactics; he should write better questions.
Let me make the point: the member
asked me whether I had discussed these matters with Bill Shorten. The answer to
that is no. If he had asked whether I had discussed climate change policies
with the federal Labor Party, the answer would have been yes. That is how dumb
he is to ask the wrong question!
Several members interjected.
Mr W.J. JOHNSTON : Let me make
it clear: I believe in climate change. I believe that human-induced climate
change needs response. Amazingly, Tony Abbott agrees with me. But I was
interested in the comments in November last year of federal Liberal cabinet
minister Kelly O'Dwyer, who talked about the Liberal Party being full
of homophobic, anti-women, climate deniers. I wonder which category the member
for Bateman sits in.
