minister representing the Minister for Environment:
(1) Is the
minister currently considering the setting up of a post-2016 annual quota for
sandalwood exploitation in the wild? If not, when will the quota decision be
considered by the minister?
(2) Do the
minister or Department of Parks and Wildlife have a good understanding of the
current conservation status of sandalwood in the wild, having regard to changes
in its geographic and age distribution, regeneration failure and losses due to
licensed exploitation, fire and illegal taking? If yes, upon what recent
research or studies is this understanding based?
(3) Has the
minister met with any companies or contractors currently involved in the native
sandalwood industry in the past 12 months? If yes, with whom did he meet and
when?
