OSPREY VILLAGE — FLEETWOOD CORPORATION
144. Mr B.S. WYATT to the
Treasurer:
I ask a supplementary question. I refer to a question asked
yesterday in the upper house that confirms that Treasury was not involved in
this process, signed off by the Minister for Housing. Is the Treasurer
concerned that Treasury was not involved in an arrangement that will leave the
taxpayer exposed to a liability that the Treasurer does not know the extent of?

AnswerView source ↗

The Department of Housing, as the member has just indicated,
entered into an arrangement and underwrote a contract of a certain magnitude.
Treasury usually is informed of, and does not necessarily sign off on,
indications of those types of liability. But I will check into it, and I am
sure appropriate processes were put in place.
